Oberursel Bahnhof

Ever since I moved here in 1995, I thought the Bahnhof was in dire straits. It only served for transition, and not as a place to linger. There had never been any tasty bakery goods on sale, the ticket window was closed most of the time, and the smell of urine was always present.

It lacked the presence of people and business – the Oberursel Bahnhof has been only a place to rush through. What once was a stately building is now a dilapidated facility.

The taxi stand had to be moved to a different location and the place looks rather deserted. Passengers are being rerouted to get from the train station to the adjacent U-Bahn station.

Fenced off and ready for a make over, the Bahnhof is waiting for better days to come.

Comments

  1. One of my favourite Karneval rhymes (seen on a float a couple of years ago) is:

“Der Orscheler Bahnhof stinkt nach Klo,
    Champagnerluft gibt’s anneswo”

  2. That’s a good one! Considering there are only two miles between the Oberursel Bahnhof stink and the Bad Homburg “champagne air”.
