Camp King Oberursel and the Mountain Lodge

On this drizzly Christmas Day, we took a little walk around the neighborhood while disposing of all the paper trash, mostly gift wrap from last night’s Christmas celebration. In Germany, we celebrate and do the gift exchange on 24 December.

If I remember correctly, most of the apartments at the Mountain Lodge have been sold already.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

New Housing in Oberursel

These two housing developments are currently built in Oberursel.

Projekt Heidegarten on Hohemarkstrasse

The name Heidegarten is taken from its location: the housing is being built at the corner of Hohemarkstrasse and Im Heidegraben,
with more than 80 apartments, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments (some in penthouse style). A few apartments on the ground floor are also suitable for commercial use.

For more information, visit Oberursel Heidegarten (in German).

Projekt Am Urselbach on Hohemarkstrasse

The grounds of the former Janndorf factory have been cleared to make room for 130 apartments and houses. This is in a convenient location as the U-Bahn station is in front, Frankfurt International School (FIS) is in walking distance, and a supermarket, schools, kindergarten, etc. are just across the street.

For more information, visit Frank Am Urselbach (in German).

Oberursel is a popular place to live.

Other recent housing developments are: Camp King (2000), Ober den Birken (2006), and near the Forsthausweg – Tierheim (2008).

Ober den Birken in Oberursel, Germany

I had written a post about this fairly new settlement almost three years ago. Back then the focus was on the street name “Ober den Birken”, which is unusual in its form. Not for being named after a kind of tree – after all, we are in Germany – but for the preposition used.

Since this post gets quite a few visitors each month, I decided to call up a friend who had moved into one of the apartments right after completion in 2005/2006. She let me take some photos from her third-story apartment.

Surrounded by woods on almost three sides and direct access to public transportation and high ways, this settlement is also very attractive to the many expat families Oberursel hosts.

Ober den Birken offers semi-detached houses, town houses and apartments.
