In our fairly small town of Oberursel (population of 46.000), the district of Bommersheim held its Christmas market this weekend. As a matter of fact, most villages and small towns have their market for one weekend only. The vendors, many of them volunteers (e.g. fire department, kindergarten), will pack up in about an hour when the market closes at 8 p.m.
This former village also has village prices, e.g. a cup of hot apple juice for 50 cents. One stand was even without a vendor. Just a small sign stating “Kasse” indicating to place the payment into a slot. We bought some cookies in a jar.
Then there was the Leierkastenmann (organ grinder) entertaining us with his songs.
