Ledward Barracks, Schweinfurt goes Educational with iCampus

We usually pass by Ledward Barracks twice a year. This latest update is with photos taken on 20 April 2019.

Here we are approaching the corner of Niederwerrner Straße and Franz-Schubert-Straße, and there it is, the new iCampus under construction.

For a closer view, we’re turning into Franz-Schubert-Straße.

This iCampus is being built in the Carus-Park, which is the new name for the former Ledward Barracks area. For more information about the Carus-Park in German, visit iCampus Schweinfurt.

Tank Trail next to Ledward Barracks, Schweinfurt, Germany

We spent the past couple of days, Good Friday and Good Saturday, in the Schweinfurt area, and arrived at Ledward Barracks on our way to the village of Hambach. We turned into tank tail road heading to ‘Yorktown’, but had forgotten the road is sealed off for regular traffic. Which wasn’t always the case 30+ years ago…

This corner of Ledward Barracks still looks untouched.

Heading towards Kessler Field. It was a gorgeous day to be out and about.

In the late 1980s, the building on the right was part of an infantry battalion.

Soon after this part of Ledward, we had to turn around to get back onto Niederwerrner Straße. These buildings appear to have been part of the motor pool.

This is an update on the current works at Ledward Barracks. This part hasn’t changed much, as far as I can see. But in my next post, I will take you around the other side of Ledward Barracks.

I hope you’re buckled in for this ride.

More Construction on Hohemarkstrasse – November 2012 update

Access to Im Rosengärtchen, An der Waldlust and Hohemark

This coming weekend (9-12 Nov 2012), there will be construction on Hohemarkstrasse where the train tracks cross the road between the U-Bahn stations Im Rosengärtchen and Kupferhammerweg.

The good news is that it should only take place between 22:00 Friday night and 05:00 Monday morning.

The bad news is that the road will be completely closed with the detour going via A 661. The tram line U 3 is also involved and ends at the Kupferhammer station, but there will be buses from Kupferhammer  going to Hohemark (end of the line).
