New Beer Garden near Camp King, Oberursel

We had heard about this new beer garden from friends, and I had read about about on Facebook. With the current weather conditions of sunny and dry today, but a rainy Pentecost Sunday and Monday in the forecast, we decided to pay it a visit today.

It’s great! We live in walking distance, and were pleasantly surprised, when we arrived. We had a spot in the evening sun, while others were sitting in the shade watching the soccer game (Frankfurt vs. Bayern München).

Here are some impressions of our evening.

A ‘Wurstsalat’ (marinated cold cuts with bell peppers, pickles, onions, and radish). I’ll have that again next time.

I love this wrap-around bench under this beautiful old tree.

This Biergarten is open on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 11:00 – 22:00 only if the weather is nice.

Starting June 2018, it will also be open on Fridays, starting at 17:00.

More Construction on Hohemarkstrasse – November 2012 update

Access to Im Rosengärtchen, An der Waldlust and Hohemark

This coming weekend (9-12 Nov 2012), there will be construction on Hohemarkstrasse where the train tracks cross the road between the U-Bahn stations Im Rosengärtchen and Kupferhammerweg.

The good news is that it should only take place between 22:00 Friday night and 05:00 Monday morning.

The bad news is that the road will be completely closed with the detour going via A 661. The tram line U 3 is also involved and ends at the Kupferhammer station, but there will be buses from Kupferhammer  going to Hohemark (end of the line).

New Housing in Oberursel

These two housing developments are currently built in Oberursel.

Projekt Heidegarten on Hohemarkstrasse

The name Heidegarten is taken from its location: the housing is being built at the corner of Hohemarkstrasse and Im Heidegraben,
with more than 80 apartments, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments (some in penthouse style). A few apartments on the ground floor are also suitable for commercial use.

For more information, visit Oberursel Heidegarten (in German).

Projekt Am Urselbach on Hohemarkstrasse

The grounds of the former Janndorf factory have been cleared to make room for 130 apartments and houses. This is in a convenient location as the U-Bahn station is in front, Frankfurt International School (FIS) is in walking distance, and a supermarket, schools, kindergarten, etc. are just across the street.

For more information, visit Frank Am Urselbach (in German).

Oberursel is a popular place to live.

Other recent housing developments are: Camp King (2000), Ober den Birken (2006), and near the Forsthausweg – Tierheim (2008).

Tourism Office for Oberursel

As I had mentioned in a previous post a few days ago, the city of Oberursel has a new project going. Curious about the location, I took a nice little walk up Hohemarkstrasse to the end of the U3 line to take this photo.

News from Oberursel

At the northern end of Oberursel, where Hohemarkstrasse and the U3 train tracks both reach  their final destination point, a new project is in the making.

Located superbly at the Tor zum Taunus (gate to the Taunus mountains), the city of Oberursel is building an Information Center. The project, estimated at a cost of 2.7 million euro, started on 17 May 2010 and aims at becoming the new information gateway for tourists and residents alike.

Next to providing a multimedia exhibition, the center will also house a seminar room and a restaurant. In addition, there is a discussion on whether to have electric bicycles available to make the mountain destinations more accessible.

For more about the location, visit Hohemark on Googlemaps.
