Maria’s Beer Balcony in Germany

My travel companion, Rhiannon, now from Malmö, Sweden, stopped by in Oberursel on her way to Italy. We enjoyed our little reunion on the Beer Balcony.

Our next trip will take us to Cyprus in November this year. That is, if the world is okay with that. We shall see.

I have started to decorate the beer balcony with more wine-related decorative items. One of them is an actual vine which I have growing behind the bench.

The change has happened gradually, and there are several reasons for this. Sunny and warm evenings, when you long for a cold beer, are becoming rarer. We have had a miserable summer so far (on the most part).

Our visiting friends are getting older as well, and we tend to drink wine instead of beer, which is less in volume. This is especially helpful, when you have to drag your drinkables 56 steps up the stairs.

Visitors have become such a rare sight during the Covid pandemic. Bryne, our neighbor and a fellow teacher at FIS, stopped by this afternoon.

I am still trying to get rid of the Schnaps I inherited from my family home (and other sources), so I lightened our load by having one with him. And yes, we had a beer before that.

We all have been vaccinated, and do not take science and its findings for granted. Protocol can change rather quickly. But a bit of companionship goes a long way.

Driving by Former Ledward Barracks, Schweinfurt

As I had mentioned in my previous post, we visited my hometown area of Schweinfurt, and whatever photos I took were taken from the car.

The new campus building for the University of Applied Sciences sits fairly close to a remaining original Ledward Barracks building.

Here we reached the end of our drive-by coming along Franz-Schubert-Strasse. We turned left onto the Niederwerrner Strasse to continue our little journey.
