Aerial Views over Askren Manor and Ledward Barracks, Schweinfurt

These photos of Akren Manor and Ledward Barracks have been given to me by the photographer, Thomas Liepert, and are now published with his friendly permission.

The first three photos were taken by Thomas taking a ride on the Ferris Wheel at the annual Volksfest (01 – 11 June 2018).

The following photos were taken around the same time, but obviously closer to the ground.

More Construction on Hohemarkstrasse – November 2012 update

Access to Im Rosengärtchen, An der Waldlust and Hohemark

This coming weekend (9-12 Nov 2012), there will be construction on Hohemarkstrasse where the train tracks cross the road between the U-Bahn stations Im Rosengärtchen and Kupferhammerweg.

The good news is that it should only take place between 22:00 Friday night and 05:00 Monday morning.

The bad news is that the road will be completely closed with the detour going via A 661. The tram line U 3 is also involved and ends at the Kupferhammer station, but there will be buses from Kupferhammer  going to Hohemark (end of the line).

Oberursel Bahnhof

Ever since I moved here in 1995, I thought the Bahnhof was in dire straits. It only served for transition, and not as a place to linger. There had never been any tasty bakery goods on sale, the ticket window was closed most of the time, and the smell of urine was always present.

It lacked the presence of people and business – the Oberursel Bahnhof has been only a place to rush through. What once was a stately building is now a dilapidated facility.

The taxi stand had to be moved to a different location and the place looks rather deserted. Passengers are being rerouted to get from the train station to the adjacent U-Bahn station.

Fenced off and ready for a make over, the Bahnhof is waiting for better days to come.
