New Housing in Oberursel

These two housing developments are currently built in Oberursel.

Projekt Heidegarten on Hohemarkstrasse

The name Heidegarten is taken from its location: the housing is being built at the corner of Hohemarkstrasse and Im Heidegraben,
with more than 80 apartments, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments (some in penthouse style). A few apartments on the ground floor are also suitable for commercial use.

For more information, visit Oberursel Heidegarten (in German).

Projekt Am Urselbach on Hohemarkstrasse

The grounds of the former Janndorf factory have been cleared to make room for 130 apartments and houses. This is in a convenient location as the U-Bahn station is in front, Frankfurt International School (FIS) is in walking distance, and a supermarket, schools, kindergarten, etc. are just across the street.

For more information, visit Frank Am Urselbach (in German).

Oberursel is a popular place to live.

Other recent housing developments are: Camp King (2000), Ober den Birken (2006), and near the Forsthausweg – Tierheim (2008).

Camp King Oberursel Reunion

For anybody ever stationed at Camp King Oberursel, there is a reunion scheduled for 13 – 16 July 2012.

To learn more about it, visit the group Camp King Oberursel Reunion on Facebook.

I am glad to hear this is happening!

Camp King Oberursel

The other day I took a little detour through Camp King and decided to take some photos showing the old Camp King buildings adjacent to the new German buildings.

The row of red townhouses at Camp King Oberursel (foreground) lead right up to the fence separating its well-heeled residents from the old neighboring settlement of the Rosengärtchen. This high-rise area was built in 1972.

Camp King Officers’ Club Oberursel

A private investor purchased the former Officers’ Club (a.k.a Mountain Lodge) back in late June 2010.

Three months later, the building is still sitting idle.

Guided Tour of Camp King Oberursel

The past Saturday, 28 August, I joined Mr. Kopp’s guided tour through the Camp King areal once more. With about 20 visitors in tow, we walked through Camp King through drizzling rain, sudden sun shine, and heavy showers.

A springlike moment near the Officers’ Club Camp King

Nevertheless, it was a good tour and I was glad to see more people showing up (in May 2010, there were only five visitors). The next one is scheduled for May 2011.
