Zum Fuchstanz near Oberursel/Feldberg
This afternoon’s outing took us to the Fuchstanz Restaurant, which is located in the Naturpark Hochtaunus between Königstein, Oberursel and the Feldberg mountain.
There are a few ways to get there, but the last part has to be done on foot. We drove up to the Grosse Kurve heading towards the Feldberg from Oberursel. At this sharp bend you will find parking spaces. From there it is only another hike of 1.6 km (or one mile) to reach the top. One of the restaurants may be open when you reach the top.

We have reached the top and are ready for some warm food.
Walking up there we encountered just a few walkers, one cross-country skier, and a deadening silence. This is something Walt Whitman would have enjoyed.

Ideal for cross-country skiing
We had to leave our daughter’s sled in the trunk as we found the abundant snow too mushy for sledding.
But this little hike is wonderful in any season. Once we got to the restaurant we ordered its famous pea soup. It might not sound enticing to some of you, but they have a special recipe. Watch out – the soup is like a complete meal and there probably is no need to order anything else after that.

Starting from your parked car at the sharp bend, the top will be easy to find. Just follow the other walkers. If there aren’t any, just follow the tracks up the road – in daytime, that is.
