Jesus hanging about Franconian Pubs
We took another weekend trip to Lower Franconia. For some reason, I had never noticed before how Jesus dominates in Stammtisch presence (table for the regulars). This could only happen in a culture where alcohol and religion are closely tied together, such as in Northern Bavaria. It is not uncommon to stop by the pub for a drink, usually a Schoppen of wine, even after church on Sunday morning.
In a way this is a bit like Ireland, where most pubs are found around churches.
