Bonzi says It’s a nice place, isn’t it?

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Another weekend in my hometown left us battling with even more snow coming down Sunday morning.

We are also still hunting local guest houses for a taste of Doppelbock, which is only brewed and sold during the time of Lent. The locals are supposed to be fasting, but not in regards to liquid bread.

Please note the cyclists daring the roads. They were not the only ones riding bikes in the snow either.

For a couple of minutes, we contemplated changing plans…

Once I find a guest house offering Doppelbock beer, I will post again.

The Faroese Islands in Winter

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

A Faroese friend sent me these pictures after I had mentioned I would like to see what the Faroe Islands look like when covered in snow. She said one of her friends had taken them and I had permission to publish them. Thanks friend!

Record Low Temperature in Germany

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Oh Baby, it’s cold outside is a fitting tune for this advent season in Germany. We have a record low of – 14° C (about 7 F) and a bit of snow off and on. This has been the coldest day in 30 years.

This morning as I started to do my writing out on the balcony, my ball point pen gave out. I tried warming it up, but it only gave me enough ink for a couple of letters. I resigned and put my writing journal and pen back inside.

Cozy lights and harsh temperatures in Germany

A minute ago I walked out on the balcony and was surprised by the vapor which followed me as I closed the door. Then I realized it was the indoor warmth along with my own body heat which had left me standing in a fog.

This is the way winter should be in Germany.
