Beethoven Bed & Breakfast in Oberursel/Ts.
I often get asked about reasonable and convenient places to stay when visiting Oberursel. The last one came in on my post about Ober den Birken under “comments”. This inquiry could be from friends visiting Germany for the first time or from distant relatives who will only visit for a short stopover. Most expat families will have enough room to accommodate friends and family at their home, but there are also others…
Nevertheless, it is good to have a list of accommodations on hand – especially if you know the proprietor speaks English as well.
So my first recommendation is Beethoven Bed & Breakfast right in the heart of Oberursel.
Some friends, one of them a former Frankfurt International School parent, had discovered this place through the internet and booked it before coming from Korea. She has been using this Bed & Breakfast on every visit to Germany and this is where I generally meet her, too. On one of those occasions I also met the congenial proprietor.
I have been to this cozy rooftop apartment, which can easily house a small family. The kitchen dinette is excellent for making tea and coffee, breakfast, instant soups, etc. This is what makes this place so convenient as well – when compared to a regular hotel room, which you will have to leave every time you want a bite to eat.
The location is excellent as it is only one minute away from the next U-Bahn station “Portstrasse” (Unfortunately, the station is under construction until 21 November, 08), where you can hop on the U-Bahn to downtown Frankfurt – no transfer needed.
If your visit is more focused on Oberursel itself and you want to reminisce a bit, then it will take only a five-minute walk to the old part of Oberursel and its half-timbered houses around the market place.
Beethoven’s rates are very reasonable and affordable, with higher rates during fairs in Frankfurt.

Hallo Maria,
I had a look at this location “Beethoven” and I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t like the rooms. Ok the rates are very reasonable but still I don’t like this place att all.
Sorry, as I do know some other nice and cosy Hotels near Kronberg such as the Hotel Bommersheim I won’t recommend the Beethoven to my friends.

Dear Ms. Shipley, thank you for mentioning my vacation condo in your blog. As I always try to make my guests feel as much home as they can possibly do in a foreign city, I am intrigued as to what Ms. Schmitz didn’t like. I ask my guests if everything is arranged according to their desires and try to communicate as best as possible. I like having guest from abroad so I am puzzled what it might have been that Ms. Schmitz, who has never been a guest of mine, may have objected to when looking at my apartment. This Bed and Breakfast is the best one I have seen in Oberursel. The service is great, the rooms are always clean, and best of all, one feels welcome there!!! Whenever my friend stayed there, I would come up for a cup of tea and it was just cozy.
It will always be my #1 for a recommendation.

I have been to your place a few times and everything you have there is just right. The apartment is wonderful (I might even consider staying there for one night myself!!!), your regular guest – my foreign friend – thought you were so nice she insisted I meet you. Can you remember her ringing your doorbell to introduce me?
By the way, one of my former Oberursel friends (they moved to the Ostsee a year ago) had asked me for a recommendation where to stay in Oberursel for a one-week visit in January 2009. I had sent them your link and they said they had already gotten your link, recommended from another source as well.

Ich antworte nunmehr mal in Deutsch. Ich war nicht persönlich in diesem Bed&Breakfast Hotel, aber ich habe 16 Jahre lang die Reisestelle einer
Hochschule geleitet und habe mehrfach gehört, dass es nicht so besonders gefallen hat. Natürlich sind die Zimmer sauber und ordentlich, aber vielleicht kommt es darauf an, welche Ansprüche man stellt. Mag sein, dass meine andere sind, meine Erwartungen an dieses Haus, welches ich nur von den Berichten her kenne anfänglich überzogen waren.
Ok, es ist wohl immer Geschmacksache. Natürlich liegt dieses Haus sehr zentral, der Service ist sehr gut, das habe ich auch gehört und die Preise sind sehr erträglich. Trotzdem haben die Zimmer unseren Gästen nicht so besonders gefallen. Aber wie schon gesagt, das ist immer Geschmacksache und ich will hier keinerlei Rufschädigung betreiben. Es freut mich, wenn das Haus gut angenommen wird und ausgebucht ist.

Mit I had a look at this location….. meinte ich, dass ich mir das Hotel auf den Bildern im Internet unter http://www.vacation-apartments.com angeschaut habe.
Wie gesagt, ich war nie persönlich in dem Haus. Mir gefallen die Schlafzimmer überhaupt nicht und das ist es auch, was ich während meiner Hochschulzeit mehrfach gehört habe.
Aber ich wiederhole mich. Es ist alles Geschmackssache.
Nichts für ungut. Ich wünsche den Betreibern und/oder Eigentümern allzeit gute Geschäfte.

Over the years I have come to stay at the Beethoven B & B in Oberursel and I am always returning because it is great! First of all this Apt is very very clean and comfortable.Every year my friend and I visited to Germany,we stayed there. We were always satisfied.We felt this house, far away home. The kitchen and bathroom were fully equipped.The bed sheets were always very clean and nice.
I recognized that Mr. Borgfeld tried to improve his Apt.I am happy to stay there. Next year I’ll be there.
