Travelling book: Witch Child

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

This one I read in one sitting at the pool on Sunday. It is well written, has lots of historical background, and kept me very entertained for four hours sitting in the shade.

“It is a powerful, absorbing and unusual novel” quoted by The Bookseller

To the finder: Please leave a comment where you found it Τα Χανιά .

Travelling book: The Daydreamer

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

I started reading this one at the public pool this past Sunday in Oberursel/Germany. It is comprised of several short-stories, all connected, and full of fantasy.

Again, I will leave this book somewhere on the island of Crete in Chania (Τα Χανιά) and look forward to the finder’s comment.

Travelling book: Under Gemini

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Well, it is that time again. I will be going on a trip and I take books with me to read in the very early morning, on lazy afternoons, or for late night reading under the stars.

As usual I don’t want to bring my books back – unless one is a real keeper – so it is fun to leave them for the next reader.

This time we will be heading to Crete and I plan on leaving four books on the island. It would be nice to get a comment from the book finder.

This one was given to me by a young woman who had gone off to college in London. Reading Rosamunde Pilcher is not on my priority list, but she will do for lazy afternoons. I estimate to read this book within four hours’ time and then I will deposit it somewhere in Chania (Τα Χανιά).

Hope to hear from the next reader!

Travelling book: Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

By now I’ve got three copies of this New York Times bestseller on hand. Well, one I definitely will “release” on the island of Crete sometime this week.

These teenage stories/accounts make good reading for anybody. Some stories are very moving and worth reading again. The book itself is a bit like a text book worth keeping for “life’s beginners” with its 101 Stories of Live, Love and Learning.

Dear Finder, let me know where you found the book.
